In the beginning there was Chaos and from the chaos Gaia came to be.
Gaia (Earth) and Uranus (Sky) began the long extensive line that eventually becomes the Greek gods.
Together they had numerous children:
The Cyclopes:
Arges
Brontes
Steropes

The Hecatanchires (100 handed monsters)
Briareus (Also known as Aegaeon)
Cottus
Gyes

The Titans:

Rhea
Oceanus
  Hyperion
Theia
Mnemosyne
Iapetus

Cronus and Rhea
had the Greek gods

Zeus
God of the Sky

Hades
God of the Underworld

Poseidon
God of the Sea

Hera
Goddess of Marriage

Hestia
Goddess of the Hearth

Demeter
Goddess of the Harvest

Cronus after hearing a prophecy he became fearful that one of his
children would over throw him. So one by one he swallowed them to
prevent such a thing happening. When Rhea had her final child, Zeus,
instead of allowing Cronus to eat him, she fed him a stone wrapped in
swaddling cloth.
Thinking nothing of it, Cronus scarfed it down unaware of the switch. When Zeus had grown he over threw his father and
freed his siblings.

Once the titans had been over thrown Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades drew lots to see who would govern over what. Zeus
who cheat received the Sky. Poseidon the Sea and Hades the Under world.

Also in some mythology Zeus was also the god of the Universe, after he killed his father Kronos (Cronos).

Greek Mythology has always been interesting. I've always found Metis and Zeus to be interesting. How people, gods or not, can be so power hungry.

Well the gods are like us or rather we're like them, but they have more....impulses to their nature.
They can't help the way they are.
We can. Kind of the moral to all the stories.
