| When attempting an action as intense as astral projection, it is good to know some safety basics. Here is a short list I of rules and reminders I have compiled from personal experience.
Know where you’re going (Self-explanatory, you don’t want to accidentally end up trespassing and ticking off something bigger and badder than you. It's important to note that sometimes when astral projecting, people will find themselves in unfamiliar territory. Keep alert, but enjoy the experience.)
Know a little history of where you are going, its culture, inhabitants and possible risks (eg: if travelling to Jotenheim, do a little research beforehand on the Jotun and their history, clans, social standards ect.)
Prepare/expect for the unexpected (Inhabitants of the other realms do not always follow our social codes and conventions, be prepared to adapt. It may take a few times of travelling to that place before you feel comfortable.)
Relax (If you’re tense or overly nervous, some things going to want to mess with you on basic principle. Take a deep breath, keep an open mind and know that the world isn’t out to get you if you don’t do something to make it mad first)
If there’s a lesson or topic you’d really rather not discuss, get ready to face it (I have found this mostly applies to channeling or talking to entities particularly. If you went through the trouble to call on them for help, accept what you are given. Purposely trying to avoid a lesson or topic or even fact about yourself, someone else or the surroundings will almost always make it come up during your experience. Face it with an open mind and with grace, usually it isn’t as bad as you think.)
Never sleep with an entity or let it inhabit your body without knowing it very intimately first (Kind of a no brainer, entities can be very similar to humans in both desires and emotion, it can be surprisingly easy to get entangled with one and run into an odd situation like this. It is ok to say no. Be courteous, but most entities will understand. Letting something in is a lot easier than trying to get something out. Some will try to trick you, but I have never encountered one that tried anything forcibly. Remember, just because an entity is friendly at first doesn’t mean it always has best intentions, just like grumpier entities aren’t always bad.)
Have a backup plan (This is important for new and experienced travelers alike. Always have an escape plan if things get overwhelming or you somehow lose control. I would suggest strongly having someone with you when you go into trance and have some sort of simple but not common gesture you can do if things get overwhelming as a signal for them to help you exit the trance state safely. Do NOT have someone inexperienced trying to shake you out of trance, it can actually be dangerous to the person attempting to exit trance.)
Be in a quiet space where you will not be interrupted (I consider this the utmost top rule for astral traveling. It can be hazardous to be pulled out of trance too quickly or without warning to mental and physical health.)
Know your body’s limits (Be aware of your body and its limitations during travel, what you could do before, you might not always be able to do again. From personal experience, I have found that inducing trance and astral travel too frequently in a short period of time leads to mental and physical health issues. The key is to take it slow and listen to when your body says enough, the realms aren't going anywhere.)
I hope you guys enjoyed these rules and tips, if you have any more to add, feel free. That is what most of my personal experiences are from. This is just a guideline, it can be adapted to suit individual talents and needs.

| Good thread on astral projection, but an entity wouldn't be able to take your bosy, as your physical body looks after itself. Also, I would recommend someone watching your body in case you have a trauma of some sort.
Fears.
You need to release all your fears when it comes to astral projection because it can stop you grom actually doing it. For examply if you're scared of entities and you come across one it can hurt youu, but if you let go of tha fear and show you're not scared then itbwill go, Simple as.

| Quote joshmc ( ) but an entity wouldn't be able to take your bosy, as your physical body looks after itself. I think you may have misunderstood what was written, or I might not have worded things well enough. While astral projecting an entity can not possess you by surprise, no, you are right on that. I was meaning in cases of an entity asking to use your body as a vessel and an inexperienced projector giving them the okay without having proper knowledge of the entity or situation.
